How Window Tinting Laws Work?

I'm getting my windows tinted this week. I travel between three states frequently; Florida, Ohio, and SC. The three states have different tinting laws. My question is, does my tint have to be in line with all three states or just the state my car is registered in?How Window Tinting Laws Work?
I would think it would go by what state your car is licensed in. Alot of states require you to have both a front and rear license plate. I just drove from michigan to florida and back and i know a couple of those states have that law and in michigan you only need a rear plate and i didnt have any problem. But like the other person said i wouldnt be surprised if a cop stops you just to give you a hard time and look for other things to hit you withHow Window Tinting Laws Work?
In theory, I don't know.

In practice, it had better be or you can expect to be harassed in the states where your tinting does not comply. How Window Tinting Laws Work?
The cops have a million dollar gauge. Laws mean nothing to them. If the million dollar gauge says its to dark, then its to dark. You will be found guilty in a court of law and face up to a $5000 fine and 6 months in a correctional facility.
The State the vehicle is registered in.

Does home window tinting really help because I think I just wasted $1200 ???

I just had my whole house tinted with a dark shade tint that Vista tint offers and I dont think my house is any cooler yet. Besides making my house darker, I almost think it might have made my house hotter. Any advice would be appreciated because I think I just might have blown $1,200 for nothing. FYI, I have shutters on most of the windows in the house as well.Does home window tinting really help because I think I just wasted $1200 ???
Vista films can reduce the heat gain coming in through your windows by nearly 80%. This means the rom will take much longer to get as hot as it did without the film. It is also cutting nearly 100% of the UV. You may have an AC issue, since the warm air is not being removed. Check your cooling devices and air handler! VISTA Films are certified by the NFRC http://www.nfrc.org so there is no false advertising with this superior window film!Does home window tinting really help because I think I just wasted $1200 ???
I tried that tinted window film a few years ago on a large sliding glass door that faced the west. It did help some with the heat, but did make my kitchen darker. Hard to clean, too.

Keeping your house cool on hot days has alot to do with what kind of shingles you have on the roof and the color. We have black asphalt shingles and they absorb the heat, so if there is no breeze or heat and humidity is high, we don't leave our windows open.

While using the AC is really most comfortable, we only use ours on the really unbearable days. Instead we keep our furnace fan on 24/7. It brings the cooler air up thru the house from the lower level, and with our ceiling fans on low, we stay comfortable at 75 to 77 degrees. The AC is what really uses alot of electricity, but our bill is pretty nice with just the furnace fan and ceiling fans.

You will probably notice some difference in how cool you house stays with the window tints in a few more days. If

your house was hot when they did the windows, it probably will stay hot til the weather cools down some and you can open doors and windows to let the fresh cool air in before it turns hot again.

My aunt had tinted windows in her Florida house and she liked them cuz people couldn't see in her windows with the reflective quality to the outside. I don't know that it made her house any cooler, tho.

Did the company offer any kind of warranty or garantee with the product?Does home window tinting really help because I think I just wasted $1200 ???
no, it works...I lived in west Texas for a while, believe me, it works. Like others have said you might want to check all the other sources for keeping the cool in. the fact that they cut down on people seeing in your windows(except at night when your lights are on)is nice also.
Storm windows would have been much better. If the tint is reflective it has to help some. Plant some shade trees!

Question about window tinting for a truck?

I was wondering what the price range would be to get the windows of a truck tinted.

It's a 2006 Toyota TacomaQuestion about window tinting for a truck?
it depends on the windows, and quality of tint.

if only the front two windows 30-50

if the whole vehicle 100-250

Depends on where you liveQuestion about window tinting for a truck?
Depending on what's already tinted, between 50 and 125 dollars. If the back window and (if it's a 4 door) back doors are already tinted dark the expect to pay about 50-60 bucks for the front two. It may also be more or less depending on where you live. I live in Florida and recently paid 60 for the front two windows of my F-150.Question about window tinting for a truck?
Depends on what windows you are doing, what color, if its going to have mirror effect, how ark its going to be, ect.
The price will vary with how dark you get your tint as well, just call a couple local places and price check. If you get a limo tint, watch out, it takes some time getting use to how dark it is!

What is the definitive answer on Illinois window tinting laws on cars?

There is so much argument online, much of it around 2009. What is the current law? Can I see a link to something official? Thank you in advance. What is the definitive answer on Illinois window tinting laws on cars?
Here is part of the law. Yahoo won't let me give you the whole thing. Apparently people who use Y!A can't read anything for more than 2 minutes. Really easy to find at

How much does it cost for window tinting?

What is the cost for window tinting..the car is a 4 door 2010 accord sedan..

I want to tint the 4 windows and the back..location Irvine, CAHow much does it cost for window tinting?
I have a window tint business on the side and here in SAT, Texas I get $145.00 for it with manufacturer's lifetime warranty and I use High Performance Tint only. I know that it's slightly higher in CA, depending where you live.

Make sure to ask what brand they use. I strongly recommend 3M, or Madico. Both are well known not to turn purple. Stay away from brands like Gila or specially LLumar, which is known for turniung purple in less than two (2) years.

Note:

When applying tint to your auto glass make sure that you use a rubber squegee, not an applicator. Also, there is no need to to remove moldings or weather strip from your windows if the installer is a real professional. So I suggest not to drop it off or leave overnight. If possible, watch the installation.

Any auto tint priced higher than $225.00 on a 4 door car should be considered highway robbery.

Good Luck and Happy New Year!!
depending on the car and how many windows you are wanting to get tented and the percentage of the tint but an average shop for the honda is probably gonna run you about 45 to70 but it should have a warrantyHow much does it cost for window tinting?

Window tinting a 2009 Honda Civic EX coupe?

I am looking to lease a 2009 Honda Civic EX coupe manual and i want to get black window tinting done to it.

How much would it cost for the dealership to do it?

And will the dealership do window tinting if i am leasing the car for 36 months?Window tinting a 2009 Honda Civic EX coupe?
I personally would not tint a car I'm leasing. Since you're just borrowing it, you don't want to throw extra money into it... right? You have to see if they'll allow it, they might not. Did you look over the contract, did it say anything about aftermarket/mods?

This is what I'd do. Go to your dealer, and see if they will throw it in with the lease or if they can do it for a tiny fee.Window tinting a 2009 Honda Civic EX coupe?
You should consider using a Dealer who is more than likely doing the car for that dealer who than doubles your price. By the way FormulaOne Tinting will remove that tint from a leased vehicle at no charge to take the worry away. Check http://www.formulaOne.com
