Does home window tinting really help because I think I just wasted $1200 ???

I just had my whole house tinted with a dark shade tint that Vista tint offers and I dont think my house is any cooler yet. Besides making my house darker, I almost think it might have made my house hotter. Any advice would be appreciated because I think I just might have blown $1,200 for nothing. FYI, I have shutters on most of the windows in the house as well.Does home window tinting really help because I think I just wasted $1200 ???
Vista films can reduce the heat gain coming in through your windows by nearly 80%. This means the rom will take much longer to get as hot as it did without the film. It is also cutting nearly 100% of the UV. You may have an AC issue, since the warm air is not being removed. Check your cooling devices and air handler! VISTA Films are certified by the NFRC http://www.nfrc.org so there is no false advertising with this superior window film!Does home window tinting really help because I think I just wasted $1200 ???
I tried that tinted window film a few years ago on a large sliding glass door that faced the west. It did help some with the heat, but did make my kitchen darker. Hard to clean, too.

Keeping your house cool on hot days has alot to do with what kind of shingles you have on the roof and the color. We have black asphalt shingles and they absorb the heat, so if there is no breeze or heat and humidity is high, we don't leave our windows open.

While using the AC is really most comfortable, we only use ours on the really unbearable days. Instead we keep our furnace fan on 24/7. It brings the cooler air up thru the house from the lower level, and with our ceiling fans on low, we stay comfortable at 75 to 77 degrees. The AC is what really uses alot of electricity, but our bill is pretty nice with just the furnace fan and ceiling fans.

You will probably notice some difference in how cool you house stays with the window tints in a few more days. If

your house was hot when they did the windows, it probably will stay hot til the weather cools down some and you can open doors and windows to let the fresh cool air in before it turns hot again.

My aunt had tinted windows in her Florida house and she liked them cuz people couldn't see in her windows with the reflective quality to the outside. I don't know that it made her house any cooler, tho.

Did the company offer any kind of warranty or garantee with the product?Does home window tinting really help because I think I just wasted $1200 ???
no, it works...I lived in west Texas for a while, believe me, it works. Like others have said you might want to check all the other sources for keeping the cool in. the fact that they cut down on people seeing in your windows(except at night when your lights are on)is nice also.
Storm windows would have been much better. If the tint is reflective it has to help some. Plant some shade trees!
